Seasons With Chorale: 4
Season Joined: 2013-14
Hometown: Glendale, CA
I received my Bachelors and Masters in Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. I also graduated from USC Thornton School of Music with a Graduate Certificate and a Doctorate in Musical Arts.
Do you also have a non-singing "day job"? If so, what do you do?
Currently I am in my fourth year, tenure-track Assistant Music Professor in Voice and Choral Music position at Pierce College in Woodland Hills. I conduct the Pierce College Choir and teach many classes in the Performing Arts Department.
Where else do you teach/gig/conduct/sing/perform?
I regularly perform around Los Angeles at various events, functions and prepare a faculty voice recital at Pierce College every year. When I am not singing, I tend to adjudicate vocal competitions and give master classes, in the Los Angeles area.
Star Wars - The Last Jedi soundtrack recording.
Highlights of your musical career:
In the early 1990’s, I released two cassette tapes (E Zen Hayer & Ganche Hoghin) consisting of Armenian patriotic and national songs in support of Armenian orphans living in Armenia. All proceeds totaling over $65,000.00 was sent primarily for the children and their families.
A defining moment of favorite LA Master Chorale onstage experience:
I have to say anytime to be on the Disney Hall stage amongst my talented colleagues is a defining moment just in itself, but if I would have to pick one from last season; I would choose the CA Big Sing! We were able to reach out to so many with our music and have them be apart of the music making. This is why we do what we do, SING!
What are you listening to these days?
Currently I am studying/ learning the Brahms Alto Rhapsody with Orchestra, Men's chorus and alto soloist.
Anything you'd like to add about yourself?
I am a single mother who maintains a busy lifestyle; I love being a member of the Master Chorale and sharing my God-given gifts with the world.
Where do you live in L.A.?
What L.A. experience do you consider essential for visitors/newcomers?
There are so many to choose from, narrowing it down is almost impossible. My advice would be to set aside a goal to try something new and different on a regular basis. Whether its a new restaurant, a concert, museum, beach, art gallery, etc. Los Angeles is diverse and has lots to offer.
